Notes currently does not follow the MIME (Multipurpose
Internet Mail Extensions) or HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).
What is MIME?
MIME is used when sending messages that support extended 8-bit characters
(IS0 8859-1, Swedish, Norwegian, US ASCII)
with or without embedded objects or inserted files. The structure of the
attachments is maintained if the recipient of the message is also using
MIME.
What is HTML?
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It consists of a set of codes
which are inserted in a document to control the way the document is displayed
by a "web browser" such as Netscape or Mosaic.
Currently Notes supports Standard ASCII text and RICH Format text.
What is Rich Format?
Rich text is a term applied to a loose set of extensions tailored towards
improving the format and general appearance of text. These extensions have
been packaged as a separate extension because they require a significant
amount of code. Therefore for applications which are particularly short
of space, developers can leave out this functionality and minimize the
code they need to deliver.
The main components of the rich text extensions are borders, view layers
and tables. Borders can be defined for paragraphs, printed pages
and table cells.
Rich format components
There are three components used to support the rich text extensions
(see Rich text extensions): DW Rich Format and DW Tables and DW Table
Borders. Prerequisite requirements are as follows:
DW Rich Format requires DW Applications
DW Tables requires DW Rich Format
DW Table Borders requires DW Rich Format & DW Tables
Other than as listed above, these components are not required as prerequisites
for any other components.
Please inform this non-Lotus Notes user that you cannot receive documents
that stray from the above. Only in attachment form, may you recieve them... |
